About Cara

Hello, I'm Cara, and I'm based in the Walton on Thames, KT12 area, in North Surrey.

I have worked in education since 2014 when I launched a very successful Kumon maths and English centre in Addlestone supporting students aged from 3.5 yrs to 17 yrs. I owned and ran the centre for ten years before deciding to sell it and focus solely on dyslexia support and assessment.

Since 2021, I have tutored part-time in a local school in Cobham, providing specialist dyslexia and maths tuition to students requiring extra support, and conducting exam access arrangement assessments. In addition, I also offer private out-of-school tutoring for students with dyslexia & literacy needs as well as maths needs. In 2024, I joined Real Training as a module tutor for their Access Arrangement Course. In my spare time, I continue to study to gain my Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) in 2025 so that I can conduct full dyslexia diagnostic assessments.

I trained with the British Dyslexia Association as a specialist dyslexia practitioner and Real Training to qualify as an exam access arrangement assessor. I am registered with the British Psychological Society as a certified test user. I am also registered with the British Dyslexia Association. I hold BSc, BDA APS, CPT3A (CCET & AAC), and British Psychological Society RQTU qualifications. I have an enhanced DBS and am registered with the update service. I am also registered with the ICO as a Data Controller.

I am passionate about helping students thrive and develop a love and enjoyment of learning while building their confidence and self-esteem. In my spare time, I love going on long country walks with my Golden Retriever, Roxy, and trying my best to keep her out of smelly puddles!
